Thoughts on Election 2016

2:03:00 AM

Few more days to go till the most anticipated event happen. Have you already decided who’s your best chosen candidate will be?

For me, I haven’t but I just wanted to share my thoughts in this election. This was the most controversial election that ever happened in our country. And certainly, as a citizen, we need to vote & choose for our candidates wisely for the future also lies within our hands. The greatest thing that each of us can contribute is to pray for our nation, seek God’s counsel and ask for his divine intervention to be upon our country.

1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,
for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

-1 Timothy 2:1-4 (ESV)

“Moreover, look for able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens.”

-Exodus 18:21 (ESV)

“ Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
-Psalm 1:1-6 (ESV)

We also need to elect a leader who follow God’s will and seek his plans and ultimately who will make laws that conform to biblical values. Candidates who knows and acknowledge God, himself, would do their best to seek out justice and righteousness and even abandon the wicked schemes.

“The way of the godly leads to life; that path does not lead to death.”
- Proverbs 12:28 (NLT)

“The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.”
-Proverbs 29:7 (NIV)

He/She also need to be a servant leader. Just like how Jesus, modelled himself as a servant leader.

Jesus submitted his own life to sacrificial service under the will of God (Luke 22:42), and he sacrificed his life freely out of service for others (John 10:30). He came to serve (Matthew 20:28) although he was God’s son and was thus more powerful than any other leader in the world.

To simplify, a servant leader, serves other first out of love.

Whether you are a believer or not, The Bible is alive and active. The Scripture are not silent and it address issues that are relevant to our society.
“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”
-Hebrews 4:12
